The Poppy has become recognized throughout the world as the memorial flower distributed by veteran organizations. Since 1922, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has conducted distribution of the BUDDY POPPIES to raise funds for its charitable programs on behalf of the needy and disabled veterans, and the surviving family members of deceased veterans. The City of Dana Point and Post 9934 will conduct the annual Veterans Day Service at the Veterans Memorial located at Strand Vista Park, Pacific Coast Highway at Selva Road, starting at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 11, 2019. The program will include the unveiling of the two plaques with the names of deceased veterans who were residents of Dana Park, and who were members of Post 9934. Participating in the services will the the Color Guard from Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, and the Post 9934 Honor Guard and Rifle Team.
