The 2018 Festival of Whales Parade is scheduled on March 3, 2018. – The Parade begins promptly at 10 AM with a route along Pacific Coast Highway beginning at Selva Road and ending at Golden Lantern in Dana Point.
Post 9934 will be in the Parade with a Color Guard and Marching unit from MAG-39, Camp Pendleton, our own Color Guard, various vehicles and a walking unit of members of the Post and the Auxiliary, and other veterans from the World War II era. Members interested in taking part in this event may notify the Post 9934 office.
Parade forms at the parking lot at Strand Beach, on Selva Road just past Pacific Coast Highway.
Participants should be at the parking lot by 8:30. Parade Marshalls at the entrance to the parking lot can tell you the location for Post 9934.
There is absolutely no parking for Parade participants at the Strand Beach Parking lot. Participants should arrange to coordinate car pools with some vehicles parking somewhere near the parking lot on Selva Road and others parking in the vicinity of the end of the Parade at Golden Lantern Street and Pacific Coast Highway. Parade participants may also ride the shuttle bus from San Juan Avenue and Violet Lantern to the Strand Beach parking lot starting at 7:00 am.
Pacific Coast Highway, northbound at Golden Lantern and southbound at Selva Road, will be closed during the Parade. The access to the Strand Beach Parking lot, for the staging area, will be from Selva Road.
