In Flanders Fields The Poppies Blow….
These are the opening words of the immortal poem dedicated to the memory of the men and women who served, fought and died in France during World War I. The Poppy has become recognized throughout the world as the memorial flower distributed by veteran organizations.
Since 1922, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has conducted distribution of the BUDDY POPPIES to raise funds for its charitable programs on behalf of the needy and disabled veterans, and the surviving family members of deceased veterans.
Dana Point VFW Post 9934, and the Auxiliary, will be distributing the BUDDY POPPIES at local stores during the Veterans Day weekend, November 9-12. When you drop money into the cans and jars held by the veteran volunteers and their Auxiliary members you will be helping to support the services to needy veterans and their families — not just those who are members of the VFW — who are assisted with disability claims and services in VA hospitals.
